Jewellery Care Instructions

The Silver rule: Jewellery on last, Jewellery off first!

To keep your CharmSA Jewellery looking its best and ensure its longevity, please follow these care instructions:

General Care:

  • Avoid Chemicals: This is the most important point.
    • Remove your jewellery before swimming in pools, hot tubs and using cleaning products. The chemicals in these products can damage the metal, stones, and finish.
    • Specifically, avoid contact with:
      • Chlorine (pools, hot tubs)
      • Saltwater (ocean)
      • Household cleaners (bleach, ammonia, etc.)
      • Liquid silver polish (see below for proper silver cleaning)
  • Storage:
    • Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity.
    • Ideally, store each piece individually in a soft pouch, zip-lock bag.
    • Airtight storage helps prevent the tarnishing of silver.
  • Remove before physical activities: Take your jewellery off before doing exercises, gardening, cleaning, and other manual tasks.

Specific Care for Silver Jewelry:

  • Tarnishing: Silver naturally tarnishes over time due to oxidation (reaction with sulfur in the air). This is normal and not a defect.
  • Cleaning (Regular):
    • Use a soft, non-abrasive polishing cloth. Gently rub the surface to remove tarnish and restore shine. Avoid using paper towels or tissues, as they can damage the metal.
    • For light cleaning, you can use lukewarm water and a mild dish soap. Gently brush the jewellery with a soft-bristled toothbrush (a baby toothbrush works well), rinse thoroughly with clean water, and dry completely with a soft cloth.
    • Do NOT use liquid silver polish dips. These are harsh chemicals that can damage the finish of your jewellery, especially any oxidized details or gemstones.

Important Notes:

  • Oxidized Silver: Many CharmSA pieces feature intentional oxidation (darkening) as part of the design. Avoid over-polishing these areas, as you may remove the desired finish. Clean oxidized areas gently with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Warranty: Improper care can void your warranty.

Please follow the above instructions carefully.
